Detailed indication evaluation
Reviewing the position and character of relevant indications where the method has been validated for the component.
TOTAL FOCUSING METHOD (TFM)
The Total Focusing Method reconstructs an ultrasonic image by focusing across a selected region of interest. It commonly uses Full Matrix Capture data and requires a suitable acquisition setup, material model and evaluation procedure.
Request a TFM proposalHOW THE METHOD WORKS
In a typical FMC/TFM workflow, an array acquires transmit-receive data from its elements. TFM processing applies calculated travel times to create an image for the chosen inspection region. The quality and meaning of that image depend on probe configuration, sound paths, material properties, calibration and validation.
WHERE IT MAY HELP
Reviewing the position and character of relevant indications where the method has been validated for the component.
Assessing whether focused images can provide additional information beyond a conventional PAUT presentation.
Using TFM alongside other ultrasonic methods when the project procedure calls for complementary evidence.
Applications are illustrative. Suitability depends on the component and approved inspection procedure.
SCOPE DEVELOPMENT
Send available drawings or specifications with the details below. IAIS can use them to review coverage, calibration, site arrangements and reporting requirements.
TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS
A visually detailed image does not by itself prove detection performance or acceptance. Focusing quality can change with velocity assumptions, sound paths, attenuation and region size. Method selection and validation should precede field use.
PROJECT ENQUIRY
Share component drawings, applicable code or specification, location and schedule. The team will review the technical basis before proposing a method and execution plan.
